The services under FEMS provide mechanical, electrical
and civil engineering support to the hospitals.
The
management and maintenance of necessities like electricity,
water, medical gases , air-conditioning and mechanical ventilation,
vehicles, fire protection systems, steam , sanitary and sewerage
systems, roads and drains, hospital grounds, landscaping and
even pest control are under the purview of FEMS.Given that these
facilities are vital for the smooth-functioning of operating
theatres, blood and drugs storage units, intensive care units,
haemodialysis centers and other critical areas of the hospital,
services under FEMS include carrying out routine inspections,
providing preventive and corrective maintenance services and
sharing technical advice. A Quality Assurance Program report
has to be submitted periodically to the Ministry of Health for
monitoring purposes.
